“Ride your limits!” – that is the motto of the Istria300 in Poreč. The first limit has now been reached: this year’s edition of the event is officially sold out. A limited number of starting places in combination with Valamar accommodation are still available. There is also a special offer for women: “You can still register,” says Event Director Julius Rupitsch.
For the fourth time, Poreč is the center of the racing bike world at the end of the summer – and for the fourth time in a row, Istria300 is sold out long before the first riders cross the starting line in Poreč’s historic old town. With 3,500 starters, the number of participants has increased again compared to last year and could probably have been even higher. “The limit is necessary, however, to ensure the high quality of the event,” explains race director Vladimir Miholjevic. “We have riders from 40 nations at the start. This clearly shows that Istria is a true paradise for racing bikes.”
To make it easier for our participants to arrive and depart, Istria300 will take place on September 28th for the first time, rather than a week later in October. “Transportation options and flight connections will be much better at that time,” explains Miholjević.
The routes have also been adapted for the fourth edition of Istria300: this year there are two shortcuts from the 300-kilometer route, which shorten the route to 209 and 134 kilometers respectively. The flexible route selection is one of the success factors of this unique concept. You can decide whether you want to ride 134, 209 or 300 kilometers directly on the route. It couldn’t be easier.
Istria300 also places a special focus on women: the “Istria300 Ladies Squad” is once again being organized this year by amateur cycling icon Katharina Rossmann. “Women can still register,” says Event Director Julius Rupitsch. A small number of packages for hotel + starting place are also still available.
The reasons for the success of Istria300 are obvious. When autumn sets in in Austria and Germany and fog, rain and cold set in, it is still summer in Istria – the perfect opportunity to get out on your racing bike with friends one last time – sea view included. “Poreč is the ideal racing bike destination because from here you can explore the entire Istrian peninsula,” says Toni Hrvatin from hotel partner Valamar.
Thanks to the promo code Istria300, participants receive discounts in selected Valamar hotels during the race weekend. An early bird breakfast on race day and the option to store bikes in the room round off the Valamar service – “Valamar loves bikes” is not just an empty phrase. Brand new: In front of the Valamar Parentino Hotel there is now the Poreč Bike Center, where the latest KTM bikes (including racing bikes) can be rented.
